Mini-title trend: Riffing on “Eat, Pray, Love”

Part of me does a little groan when I see this, but this year the title Eat, Prey, Love has had at least three books play off its popularity. What do you think of this? I guess at this point I’ve only seen the three, but three may be my limit. If I see another one I’m seriously going to eyeroll.

Are there other popular titles you can think of that have had a similar “remixing”?  I feel like I’ve seen similar things done before but my mind is blanking.

  1. OoooO I saw the Kerrelyn Sparks one. Yeah when I see a ripoff title like that, it makes me think total #fail in originality. I don’t even bother reading the blurb. Not interested.

    • Oo, you have decided quickly! The EAT,SLAY,LOVE and the DRINK,SLAY,LOVE books look humorous, so I feel like I can let it slide. But the EAT, PREY, LOVE book… the dude crawling on it towards me looks serious and combined with the title.. yeah I wouldn’t pick that one up on the cover/title alone.

  2. Ugh, I hadn’t noticed but that is irksome. It’s a cheap prey on Eat, Pray, Love’s popularity. Kind of funny too of course. 🙂 Thanks for pointing it out.

    • Yeah but this is something done time and again.. I just remembered the other book that has the remixes on its name. The Joy of Cooking!!!! I think there are a MILLION “The Joy of XYZ” books out there now.
