Reader Charities

I have a soft spot for charities that have to do with reading. I’ll be updating this page with ways to donate to reading-related organizations.

EASY GIVING:

We Give Back is a website where you can read children’s books online and tada, a book gets donated to a campaign for giving books to deserving children around the world (you get to choose which campaign the book goes to). Amazing!

The Literacy Site – just click once a day and it helps fund free books for children in need. HOW EASY IS THAT.

DONATING YOUR BOOKS:

The Pencil Foundation is an organization that I learned about through a fellow book blogger and I’ve posted about it before. You can send them books and other school supplies and teachers can use them in their classrooms. I have received the BEST thank you’s over this.

DONATE MONETARILY:

DONATE AS YOU SHOP:

Housing Works is an organization that works to “to end the dual crises of homelessness and AIDS through relentless advocacy, the provision of lifesaving services, and entrepreneurial businesses that sustain our efforts”. They are based in NYC and have thrift and bookstore locations in the city and you can also buy online.

Gone Reading is a lifestyle brand for readers – it sells reading related merchandise like books and book-related paraphernalia, and it donates 100% of after-tax profits to help fund libraries around the world.
